At IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, MAHLE is presenting a new range-extender system for heavy-duty electric trucks as well as an MCT electric motor without permanent magnets or rare earths. The compact range extender combines a generator, internal combustion engine, thermal management, and exhaust management into a single unit, enabling ranges of over 800 kilometers (around 500 miles). At the same time, battery capacity can be reduced, lowering overall vehicle weight by roughly 600 kilograms (1,320 lbs).
The new MCT electric motor saves up to three kilograms of rare-earth magnets per vehicle, is about 10 percent lighter than comparable synchronous motors, and achieves a peak output of 370 kW with an efficiency of 95 percent. In addition, MAHLE is debuting an advanced Power Cell Unit (PCU) for internal combustion engines alongside a new oil management system. Both components are designed to reduce fuel consumption, weight, and material usage, thereby lowering total cost of ownership. Alongside battery-electric drives, the company is also focusing on solutions for renewable fuels such as HVO100, bio-LNG, and hydrogen.

For the first time, the KRONE Commercial Vehicle Group is appearing jointly at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 with the brands KRONE, Knapen, Schwarzmüller, Hüffermann, Trailer Dynamics, and Gigant. Under the motto "Built as one," the corporate group is showcasing integrated solutions across the entire transport and logistics chain.
The focus is on transport, construction, agricultural, logistics, and waste management solutions, as well as spare parts, services, and digital offerings. Additionally, Trailer Dynamics is showcasing alternative drive technologies for electrified trailers, while Gigant presents various axle components.
In the outdoor area, the KRONE Commercial Vehicle Group is exhibiting a total of 12 vehicles, including a KRONE Cool Liner, a Hüffermann roll-off carrier, and a Schwarzmüller dump truck.

Under the Toyota Professional brand, Toyota is showcasing its complete commercial vehicle lineup alongside mobility, financing, and fleet solutions at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026. The highlight is the company's multi-pathway tech-inclusive approach and the German premiere of the new Toyota Hilux.
In addition to the Proace Max, Proace, Proace City, and Hilux, Toyota is demonstrating industry-specific conversions alongside financing, insurance, and fleet management services. Going forward, the new Hilux will be available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid diesel engine and, for the first time, as a battery-electric variant. A fuel-cell version is scheduled to follow starting in 2028.
With its multi-pathway approach, Toyota is relying on battery-electric powertrains, hydrogen technologies, and other driveline solutions to cover diverse commercial and fleet use cases while helping companies decarbonize their fleets.
At its booth, Toyota Professional is exhibiting industry-specific conversions for various applications alongside production vehicles. The showcase is complemented by financing and insurance solutions, as well as mobility and support services.

Volvo Trucks is presenting new trucks, drive solutions, and services for road freight transport at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026. The focus is on battery-electric, gas-powered, diesel-based, and future hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. The manufacturer is exhibiting eight vehicles at its booth and offering seven trucks for test drives. A major highlight of the showcase is the test drives starting right from the booth. For the first time, visitors can test the new Volvo FH Aero Electric with a range of up to 700 kilometers (approx. 435 miles).
The vehicles on display include the Volvo FH Aero Electric with extended range, the Volvo FH Aero, the gas-powered Volvo FH Aero, the Volvo FH16 Aero, the Volvo FH Electric, the Volvo FM Electric, the Volvo FL Electric, and the Volvo VNL developed specifically for the North American market. Available for test drives will be the Volvo FH Aero test truck with a hydrogen combustion engine, two Volvo FH Aero Electrics with extended range, the Volvo FH Aero with the new D13 engine, the gas-powered Volvo FH Aero, the Volvo FM Electric, and the Volvo FL 4x4 crew cab.
In addition, Volvo Trucks is presenting services covering vehicle operations, fleet management, and charging and refueling infrastructure, underscoring the company’s tech-inclusive approach to decarbonizing road freight transport.

Tesla has opened its first latest-generation public Megacharger location for its Semi electric truck in Bloomington, California. The facility features six charging stalls, each offering power outputs of up to 1.2 MW, and is based on the new MC1/MC2 hardware supporting the Megawatt Charging System (MCS).
According to Tesla, the Semi can recharge up to 60 percent of its battery capacity in about 30 minutes at a Megacharger. The new location replaces the previous Megacharger in Ontario equipped with older MC1 technology and expands the public fast-charging network for the electric rig.
Tesla plans to continue building out the Megacharger network in North America in the coming years. The initial focus will be on opening more than 60 locations in the US before expanding into Canada.

Fryte Mobility announced that it has launched Germany's first central reservation service for publicly accessible electric truck charging points across different operators. In partnership with Energie Südbayern and Dettendorfer Energy, logistics providers can now book charging slots at five initial locations in Bavaria through a unified platform.
A central interface allows charging points from various operators to be reserved independently of one another. The platform consolidates public and semi-public charging infrastructure, giving freight forwarders greater transparency and flexibility in route planning while improving utilization rates at charging hubs.
At launch, the network covers charging parks in Raubling, Langenbruck, Pentling, Wallersdorf, and Aichach along key transportation corridors. Additional charging park operators and locations are slated to be integrated into the reservation service moving forward.
