Renault Group has reached a strategic agreement with Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group to take full control of Flexis SAS. The joint venture was established by the three partners in 2024 to develop a new generation of all-electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Previously, the partnership was split between Renault (45%), Volvo (45%), and CMA CGM (10%). By acquiring the remaining shares, Renault will become the sole owner. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by mid-2026.

Product Vision and Technology
Despite the change in ownership, Flexis’s original product goals remain unchanged: a modern, urban electric vehicle platform focused on light vans and last-mile delivery solutions. The first model of this new generation will be the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric, with production scheduled to begin in late 2026 at the Sandouville plant in Normandy, France.

The vehicles are built on a dedicated "skateboard" platform featuring an 800-volt powertrain and a Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture. This setup is designed to provide high modularity, advanced connectivity, and seamless software integration.
Even with the full buyout, Volvo will remain a strategic partner. Through its commercial vehicle division, Renault Trucks, the new electric Trafic will be distributed globally starting in 2027. Future Flexis models are also expected to be integrated into the existing distribution network.
