MAN launches a “Smart Charging Cube” for electric trucks and buses, Lyft partners with Benteler and Holon to roll out self-driving shuttles, Geely subsidiary Farizon Auto unveils an all-electric camper van for the Chinese market, and CATL powers China’s first fully electric sightseeing boat.

MAN Truck & Bus, in collaboration with AW Automotive, has introduced the “Smart Charging Cube” – a mobile fast-charging system with an integrated battery storage unit designed for electric trucks and buses.
The all-in-one solution combines battery storage, power electronics, and charging station in a single unit. MAN offers battery packs ranging from 500 to 1,100 kWh, utilizing both new and second-life batteries. The Smart Charging Cube is designed to be highly flexible and will be available for purchase, lease, or rental depending on the customer’s needs.

Lyft plans to deploy fully electric, autonomous shuttle buses in the US starting in late 2026. To do so, the company has formed a strategic partnership with Benteler Mobility – a subsidiary of the Benteler Group – and will integrate Holon shuttles into its ride-hailing platform.
Initial deployments are expected in collaboration with cities and airports, with a broader global rollout on the horizon. The Holon Urban Shuttles are designed to seat up to 15 passengers, reach top speeds of around 37 mph (60 km/h), and operate at SAE Level 4 autonomy, using lidar, radar, and 11 cameras. The autonomous tech comes from Mobileye.
A $100 million production facility in Jacksonville, Florida, is planned to support future large-scale manufacturing.

Farizon Auto, a subsidiary of Geely, has unveiled a new electric camper van dubbed the “X-Van” in China. The vehicle is based on the company’s modular SuperVAN/GMA platform.
It features an LFP battery (supplied by Gotion) delivering a CLTC range of up to 460 km (286 miles), a 170 kW (231 hp) electric motor, and 336 Nm of torque. The X-Van also includes a V2L (vehicle-to-load) system, enabling it to power external devices such as refrigerators, stoves, or water heaters directly from the vehicle’s battery.

Battery giant CATL has extended its reach into marine applications. On July 25, 2025, China’s first fully electric sightseeing boat—named Yujian 77—officially entered service in Xiamen Bay.
The vessel is powered by a CATL marine battery pack with a capacity of 3,918 kWh, offering a range of approximately 100 km (62 miles) per charge and a top speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). The system includes CATL’s latest technologies, such as Cell-to-Pack (CTP), a CCS fast-charging system, and NP cell protection.
In operation, the boat is expected to save around 250 tons of fuel and reduce CO₂ emissions by over 400 tons annually.
