The "HoLa" (High-Performance Charging Long-Haul Trucks) Project, coordinated by Fraunhofer ISI, aims to establish a high-performance charging infrastructure for electric trucks. The project, launched in 2021, is currently setting up and operating eight high-performance charging points with the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for trucks at five locations along the A2 between Berlin and the Ruhr region. The project encompasses three main parts: site planning and selection, construction and planning of fast charging points, and accompanying scientific analyses. A total of twelve consortium partners and ten associated partners from industry and research are involved in the project, including truck manufacturers Daimler Truck, MAN, Scania, TRATON, and Volvo. The collaboration aims to gather crucial insights for establishing charging infrastructure and fast charging locations along highways, resulting in 17 recommendations presented and discussed for the first time at a conference in Berlin this week. Research findings indicate that comprehensive and high-performance charging infrastructure is essential for the complete electrification of the truck fleet.

Daimler Truck has officially inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art commercial vehicle site in Stuttgart. From the outset, the site is designed to cater to vehicles powered by battery and fuel cell technology. Starting immediately, it will offer sales and service for Mercedes-Benz and FUSO trucks, as well as service for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses. Additionally, the site will serve as a rental base for CharterWay vehicles. For example, high-voltage workstations and flexibly adjustable workstations have been set up to facilitate work on vehicle roofs. At the same time, the commercial vehicle center is one of the commercial vehicle operations in Germany that meets all requirements for the repair and maintenance of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The site features numerous electric charging points, including two charging stations with four charging points for capacities up to 300 kWh. A photovoltaic system has been installed for energy supply to the site's one- to two-story buildings covering an area of approximately 4,600 square meters, capable of providing a significant portion of the energy needs.
