In the third episode of the second season of the IAA TRANSPORTATION PODCAST, we welcome Graham Major-Ex, Executive Director of Green Business & eMobility at sennder, and Cecilia Fritzen (born: Wiesböck), Head of Sales at JUNA. Together, we discuss the electrification of road freight transport and how sustainable transport solutions can already be implemented in a cost-effective and scalable way today.
Graham Major-Ex shares exciting insights into the strategy of sennder, Europe's leading digital road freight forwarder, and explains how digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and data-driven networks are helping to significantly reduce emissions in freight transport. Cecilia Fritzen (born: Wiesböck) explains how JUNA—a joint venture between sennder and Scania—supports transport companies in switching to electric trucks and lowers financial, operational, and technological barriers with innovative "E-Truck-as-a-Service" models.
The conversation focuses on the challenges of fleet electrification—from vehicle costs and charging infrastructure to route planning, vehicle utilization, and new financing models. Furthermore, we discuss the role of HVO and battery-electric trucks, the development of charging infrastructure in Europe, and why more and more shippers are choosing low-emission transport solutions to achieve their climate goals.
We also learn how digital tools and smart networks help identify the right transport flows for e-trucks, which routes can already be electrified profitably today, and why electromobility in freight transport is becoming a reality faster than many expect.
