The partnership will focus on developing future generations of the MV-I battery pack, aiming to boost efficiency and power for the European commercial vehicle market. This initiative is part of a broader effort to accelerate the electrification of commercial fleets across Europe, covering everything from light-duty vans and buses to heavy-duty trucks.

The cooperation between Microvast and Iveco Group dates back to 2017 and has since become a cornerstone for battery-electric commercial vehicles in Europe. An early milestone was established with the IVECO eDaily, for which Microvast supplied battery systems based on its proprietary cell technology. This project laid the foundation for a long-term partnership in electric powertrain solutions.

A major developmental step was achieved in 2023 with the introduction of the Microvast MV-I Gen 1 battery pack into series production. These batteries are assembled at the FPT Industrial ePowertrain plant in Turin. The program has since evolved into the MV-I Gen 2 generation, which is currently in production and utilized across the entire Iveco Bus lineup as well as in the Iveco S-eWay Rigid electric truck platform. According to the companies, the Gen 2 battery system is engineered to support fleet operators with improved performance, scalability, and reliability.
