The production launch was celebrated at the Vitoria plant alongside high-ranking representatives from politics and business. In addition to Mercedes-Benz Group CEO Ola Källenius and Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Thomas Klein, Spain's Minister of Industry Jordi Hereu and Basque Prime Minister Imanol Pradales also attended the event. Vitoria is the first facility in Mercedes-Benz's global production network to build the new VLE. By the end of the year, the Fuzhou plant in China is also scheduled to start production for its local market.
Developed as a "Grand Limousine," the Mercedes-Benz VLE combines the driving comfort of a sedan with the spaciousness and flexibility of a multi-purpose vehicle. The all-electric model offers seating for up to eight people and is expected to achieve a driving range of over 700 kilometers (approx. 435 miles). This performance is supported by a new 800-volt architecture and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The vehicle features the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which centrally controls driver assistance systems, infotainment, and vehicle functions.
