Ford Pro is further broadening its electric commercial vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the new Transit City, a compact battery-electric model specifically engineered for urban environments. As the fifth model in the Transit family, its electric powertrain and compact footprint make it ideal for inner-city delivery and service operations. The lineup is set to launch at the end of the year as a cargo van with two different wheelbases and heights, as well as a single-cab chassis—a first for this commercial vehicle segment.

In its larger L2H2 configuration, the Transit City offers a load length of over 10 feet (3 meters), a maximum payload of 2,810 lbs (1,275 kg), and approximately 282 cubic feet (8 cubic meters) of cargo space. Much like the smaller L1H1 variant, it can transport three Euro-pallets simultaneously. The electric motor delivers 147 hp (110 kW), while the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery features a usable capacity of 56 kWh, providing a range of up to 158 miles (254 km). A plug-in module is also available for the Transit City as an optional add-on.

Ford Pro offers the new Transit City in three body styles to cover various operational needs. The shorter L1H1 cargo van is designed for cramped downtown areas where parking is at a premium. Despite its compact exterior, it can accommodate three Euro-pallets in its 212-cubic-foot (6 cubic meter) cargo area and handle a payload of up to 2,392 lbs (1,085 kg). The longer and taller L2H2 variant features a cargo hold of roughly 282 cubic feet (8 cubic meters), a load length exceeding 10 feet, and a maximum payload of 2,810 lbs (1,275 kg).

The new Transit City utilizes a 56 kWh battery with lithium iron phosphate technology, enabling a driving range of up to 158 miles (254 km) on a single charge. At a DC fast-charging station, the new electric van can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 33 minutes at a rate of up to 87 kW. Just ten minutes at a fast charger can add up to 40 miles (65 km) of additional range for the L1H1 variant. When using an 11 kW AC wallbox, a charge from 10 to 80 percent takes approximately four and a half hours.
