With these new models, DAF aims to further accelerate the transition to battery-electric heavy-duty hauling. The XG Electric and XG+ Electric are built on the same platform as the XD and XF Electric, which were collectively named "International Truck of the Year 2026."

The vehicles are powered by the PACCAR EX-D2 electric drivetrain, delivering outputs ranging from 270 to 350 kW (370 to 480 hp) and a peak torque of 2,400 Nm. Depending on the specific application, they utilize between three and five modular lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs. With the largest battery configuration, ranges of over 500 kilometers (approx. 310 miles) are achievable. With optimized route and charging planning, DAF even suggests that over 1,000 electric kilometers per day are possible.

A primary focus of the new electric trucks is driver comfort and long-haul suitability. According to DAF, the XG and XG+ cabs offer an interior volume of up to 12.5 cubic meters, making them some of the largest cabs on the market. Standing height reaches up to 2.2 meters (approx. 7.2 feet). Additionally, the vehicles feature 80-centimeter-wide beds spanning the entire length of the cab.

The vehicles have also been aerodynamically optimized. A curved windshield, a nearly seamless cab design, and advanced air deflectors and fairings are designed to reduce drag and enhance energy efficiency.
