Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) is unveiling its new Titan electric motor for the first time at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026. The unit is the UK company's largest and most powerful addition to its HDRM series to date, specifically developed for heavy-duty commercial vehicle applications. Initial samples are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2027.

Titan expands the HDRM series at the high end

With Titan, AEM aims to expand its lineup for heavy commercial vehicle electrification. Based on existing HDRM technology, the new motor is set to be the largest and highest-torque model in the HDRM family.

The company has not yet disclosed specific power and torque figures for the new motor. A detailed 3D concept will initially be shown at IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover, with the first physical samples slated for release in Q3 2027.

Air-cooled electric drive with over 30 kW

Alongside Titan, AEM is presenting a new integrated, air-cooled electric drive system in Hanover. It pairs the HDRM150—the smallest motor in the HDRM family—with a custom-matched air-cooled inverter.

Operating at voltages of up to 700 volts, the system delivers a peak output of over 30 kW. The drive combines the HDRM150 with an air-cooled inverter and operates entirely without rare earths or liquid cooling. According to AEM, it is particularly well-suited for demanding off-highway auxiliary applications. The auxiliary motor can also be seen in action in a demonstrator vehicle at the IAA—at the SAF-HOLLAND booth, where the HDRM150 serves as a generator for regenerative energy recovery within one of the company's e-axles.
