(c) Daimler Truck AG

Daimler Truck has won the VDA Logistics Award 2025 for its project “Electrify Inbound Logistics.” The project aims to fully electrify inbound traffic at its German production sites by 2026. A significant portion of the direct supply chain will become locally emissions-free. Together with logistics partners, Daimler Truck is working to gradually replace daily deliveries with electric trucks. The project includes route analysis for existing and required charging infrastructure, cost-effectiveness assessments, and feasibility studies through test drives. The goal is to incorporate all gathered insights into a new sustainable production process. The VDA Logistics Award annually honors outstanding logistics solutions that serve as a model for other companies in the automotive industry.

(c) Kia

South Korean manufacturer Kia has revealed the first exterior views of its new “Platform Beyond Vehicle” (PBV) models, the PV5 Cargo and PV5 Passenger. The PV5 Cargo features a boxy design with side-opening rear doors, allowing for easy loading and unloading. The PV5 Passenger, on the other hand, offers large windows for improved visibility and an upward-opening tailgate. Both models feature black wheel arch trims and side skirts for a modern look. More details about the interior and features will be presented at Kia’s EV Day on February 24, 2025.

(c) Symbio

French fuel cell manufacturer Symbio has introduced the “StackPack 75,” a new 75 kW fuel cell system. The system is characterized by a high operating temperature of 85°C, which is expected to enhance efficiency and ease integration into various vehicle types. Symbio plans to begin serial production of the StackPack 75 in 2026, with a focus on light commercial vehicles and medium-duty trucks.

(c) DHL

DHL Group and Scania have jointly developed a new electric truck with a Range Extender (EREV) capable of traveling up to 800 kilometers without recharging. The vehicle combines an electric motor with a fuel cell that generates electricity during the drive, significantly extending its range. This truck is primarily intended for long-haul use and aims to help reduce CO2 emissions in the logistics sector. DHL plans to deploy additional units of this type if the tests are successful, further improving the sustainability of its transport fleet.

(c) Milence

Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, Traton, and Volvo Group, has opened its first truck charging park in Italy. Located in Bagnolo San Vito, near the Brenner motorway A22, the site features several high-performance charging points for electric trucks. Truck drivers will find four HPC chargers with up to 400 kW, serving five parking bays. In the future, Milence plans to introduce both CCS and megawatt chargers (MCS). As with other Milence charging parks, the location will also offer rest areas and sanitary facilities for drivers.

(c) Wrightbus

Northern Irish bus manufacturer Wrightbus has introduced an upgraded version of its hydrogen-powered double-decker bus, the “StreetDeck Hydroliner.” The new version features a Ballard fuel cell system and other technical improvements. A full tank now takes only eight minutes. With “the latest innovations and technologies in hydrogen drive,” the StreetDeck Hydroliner Gen 2.0 promises to be a viable alternative to diesel, according to the company.
