The completely redesigned Ford Transit Custom won the "International Van of the Year" award. Its predecessor model was also showcased at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022 and is available in diesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric versions. The new generation of Europe's best-selling light commercial vehicle impressed with a high degree of digitalization and telematics, a spacious, comfortable, and practical interior, a more accessible cargo space with high payload and towing capacity, significantly improved body quality, and agile handling with safe driving characteristics, offering a “state-of-the-art” package of driver assistance up to Level 2 of automated driving, as reported by the jury.

Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok: Winners of the “International Pickup Of The Year” Award

Ford also succeeded in the “International Pick-up of the Year” award, in collaboration with its partner Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and their Volkswagen Amarok, based on the Ford Ranger. The Amarok, which was also showcased with its predecessor model at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022, shared the first place with Ford and its Ranger model for the years 2024 and 2025. The new generation is expected to impress with outstanding off-road capabilities and reliable performance both on and off the road.

Volvo Trucks FH Electric: Winner of the “International Truck of the Year 2024” Award

Volvo Trucks received the "International Truck of the Year" award for its FH Electric series. This vehicle, too, was previously showcased in a predecessor model at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022. The jury praised the electric truck for its seamless acceleration, quiet operation, and vibration-free performance. With the introduction of the FH Electric, Volvo Trucks has developed a cutting-edge, battery-electric vehicle program suitable for a wide range of transport tasks, according to the jury. With the Volvo FH Electric, an electric vehicle was chosen as “Truck of the Year” for the first time in history.

MAN’s Autonomous Driving Projects: Winner of the “Truck Innovation Award 2024”

MAN Truck & Bus received the "Truck Innovation Award 2024" for two of its research and development projects in the field of autonomous driving. In the research and development project “Autonomous Transport on Highways and Expressways at Level 4” (ATLAS-L4), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the company is currently exploring the potential of autonomous driving on highways. By the end of 2024, MAN Truck & Bus plans to test a corresponding prototype vehicle in road use. Since January 2022, MAN Truck & Bus has been collaborating with Knorr-Bremse, Leoni, Bosch, Fernride, BTC Embedded Systems, Fraunhofer AISEC, Technical University of Munich and Technical University of Braunschweig, TÜV SÜD, Autobahn GmbH, and the Würzburg Institute for Traffic Sciences (WIVW GmbH) for this purpose.

In the research and development project “Autonomous Innovation in Terminal Operations” (ANITA), also funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, MAN Truck & Bus, together with Deutsche Bahn, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, and Götting KG, investigated the integration of autonomous trucks within logistics hubs. MAN developed a self-driving truck that autonomously handles the transfer of containers from road to rail using digital mission planning. The result: the autonomous truck was up to 40 percent more productive than conventional vehicles, demonstrating great potential to make environmentally friendly combined road and rail freight transport more efficient, predictable, and flexible.
