IAA Voices: Interview Solera

An interview with Mark Tiana, Vice President of Truck & Fleet Solutions at Solera.

Mark Tiana, Solera

What does Solera stand for and what should every IAA visitor know about the company?

“Solera is the global leader in vehicle lifecycle management software-as-a-service, data, and services. We empower our customers to succeed in the digital age by providing them with a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution that streamlines operations, offers data-driven analytics, and enhances customer engagement.

We serve over 300,000 global customers and partners in 100+ countries by monitoring more than 300 million driver behaviours daily, 536,000 routes weekly, and 13 billion miles annually. We truly recognise the potential of digital technology in enhancing fleet performance.

Right now, fleets are dealing with an overwhelming mass of data and confusing tech solutions. We make sure the volumes of data drivers have to manage is communicated in a simple way that genuinely makes running fleets easier and improves the lives of drivers. We stand by the fact that there’s no point in data for data’s sake, it must provide fleets with actionable insights.”

What is the company's most important project for 2022/23?

“Fleet managers across Europe are facing unprecedented challenges. Rapidly rising fuel prices, looming recessions, and staff shortages are all compounding to make this the most challenging year in a generation. At the same time, fleet managers and drivers feel overwhelmed by the various technologies and multiple platforms that are supposed to make their lives easier.

This year and next, we’ll be announcing new products to address these complex challenges. Our priority will be providing streamlined and innovation solutions to simplify data, make the job easier and retain drivers longer.”

The newly designed IAA TRANSPORTATION is a platform and meeting place for transport and logistics companies from all over the world. What makes the trade fair so appealing to you?

“IAA TRANSPORTATION is the leading international platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, buses, and the transport sector. It’s one of the best forums for global transport businesses to come together to discuss the challenges of our time and present solutions for the future. We’re looking forward to taking part in these open discussions and presenting our own new, exciting products."

What can IAA visitors particularly look forward to at your stand?

“We’re excited to be hosting a stand in Hall 25 (stand B45) where visitors can chat to our experts from across the world. On Monday, 19th September, at 1.40 p.m., we’ll also be hosting a press conference providing an exclusive first look at our latest solution, designed to solve some of the biggest challenges in the industry.

We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors and exhibitors all week, discussing our new products and offering the chance to participate in product demonstrations.”

The coming years are all about transformation. Where will the transport and logistics industry be in 2030 - and what milestones do you want to have achieved by then?

“In the next 10 years, digital solutions will be at the heart of the transport and logistics industry. It will become increasingly important to manage each part of the driver journey from planning routes to driver experience and safety, all in one place. This is what we are aiming to help customers achieve, providing that innovative “one-stop-shop" for fleets.

Drivers are recognising that digital tools are necessary to make their jobs easier and are quickly becoming essential, rather than “nice-to haves.” Companies that don’t innovate get left behind, and we’re here to help fleets step into the digital age with confidence. We’re also looking forward to expanding into different markets whilst continuously releasing new solutions to the challenges drivers are facing on the ground.”
